Dog School

Name Response Reset

Name response is a fast turn toward the handler, not background noise. Treat it as a core orientation skill.

What matters most

  • Say the name once, then wait for orientation.
  • Reward the turn instead of adding frustration after missed reps.
  • Practice before meals, walks, and easy transitions.

Working sequence

  1. Start indoors where the dog can succeed quickly.
  2. Mark the head turn or eye contact immediately.
  3. Leave harder environments for later stages.
