Cooperative Care for Cats

Handling improves when the cat can predict what happens and when the session will stop. Consent matters for speed later.

What matters most

  • Keep reps microscopic and end early.
  • Reward stillness and opting in.
  • Treat nail trims and exams as future applications, not starting points.

Working sequence

  1. Teach one stable station or chin rest first.
  2. Add brief touches with fast recovery.
  3. Build duration only when the cat stays soft and engaged.
